Slow Cooker Sausage & Peppers

Ingredients
2
lbs
Italian Sausage
cut in chunks or leave in links! We love using a mix of sweet & hot sausage.
1
medium onion
sliced in half moons
3
bell peppers
thinly sliced (whatever colors you want to use!)
1
jar
28oz of your favorite marinara sauce
½
cup
broth
2
cloves
garlic
minced
1
teaspoon
each- dried basil & oregano
salt/pepper to taste
¼
teaspoon
red pepper flakes
optional for some extra spice!
Instructions
Place the sauce ingredients into the slow cooker and stir to combine
Add the sausage, bell peppers & onions. Mix well.
Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.
Remove lid and let stand for at least 15 minutes while the sauce thickens.
Serve over pasta, rice or on rolls.
Notes
Many people like to brown the sausage first in a separate pan. You can do that if you like, but it is not necessary for this recipe.
