- Combine the water, cacao powder and maple syrup in a saucepan. Whisk over low heat until it turns into a chocolate syrup.
- Add milk and raise heat to medium while continuing to whisk until well combined. Heat through to desired temperature, but avoid boiling.
- Stir in peppermint extract then serve immediately. Top with marshmallows, coconut whipped cream or crushed candy canes, if desired. Enjoy!
