Every great pizza night starts with a yummy crust! This Gluten Free Pizza Dough recipe is quick, easy and absolutely delicious! It's also very versatile and can be used for calzones, stromboli or garlic bread.

Gluten Free Pizza Crust
While there seems to be a growing selection of pre-made gluten free pizza crusts, and a variety of frozen pizza brands, there are a few things that steer me away from these options:
- The price. We have a big family and paying ten dollars or more for a small pre-made crust or frozen pizza is just not in our budget. We would need about 6 of them to feed everyone!
- The ingredients. Starches, preservatives, flavorings, soy & whey are just a few of the nutritionally void ingredients I notice when looking at the long ingredient list on some of these products. On top of that, there are only a select few that don't contain dairy. This is important for many who need their pizza to be both gluten and dairy free.
- The Taste. If we're going to splurge on pizza night, it better taste good! We've tried just about every pizza option out there and, while many are tasty, there's just nothing comparable to a homemade crust.
Of course there are times in our busy lives when convenience wins. When this happens, we love Simple Mills Pizza Crust Mix or Schar premade crusts.
More restaurants are now offering gluten free pizzas as well, but because of the high risk of cross-contamination(with toppings especially), we stay safe and save money by baking our pizzas at home.
How to Make Homemade Gluten Free Pizza Dough
Gluten free baking doesn't have to be hard or scary. You can make your own simple pizza crust at home in a matter of minutes, no fancy ingredients required.
- In a large bowl combine your dry ingredients: gluten free flour, baking powder and seasonings.
- Heat up the water and stir in the sugar and yeast and let sit a few minutesnuntil bubbling.
- Meanwhile, add eggs, oil and apple cider vinegar to a mixing bowl. Add the yeast mixture to the egg mixture and mix until combined.
- Slowly add the flour mixture until a dough forms. Let the dough sit for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven and lightly flour a baking sheet or pizza pan. Flatten and shape the dough, flouring your hands as needed if the dough gets sticky.
- Bake the crust for 5-7 minutes, then remove from the oven to top with sauce and your favorite pizza toppings.
- Return pizza to the oven and bake an additional 15-20 minutes. For an extra crispy crust, place the pizza directly on the oven rack for the last 10 minutes of baking.

Delicious pizza crust recipe! It’s not the normal tasting yeast dough (and I’m a yummy yeast bread fan) but it’s the next best thing. I’ve tried “fat head” crusts and almond flour crusts but this one wins hands down. I made 1/2 of a recipe and then divided the dough between two small personal pizza pans and it made two perfect personal size pizzas I’m guessing 1/2 of a personal pan pizza would be a decent serving for most adults. Thank you so much for your contribution to this of us that have to eat GF or to those of us that choose to eat GF. We get to enjoy a family pizza party night again!

Awesome recipe! Is it possible to freeze some of it for later use, or does it need to be used fresh?
ThrivingGlutenFree
So happy you enjoyed it! I have never tried freezing, but I would definitely give it a try. Freezing typically works for most things!

This is by far the best gluten free pizza crust we’ve ever had! Can’t wait to make it again. Going to try it with Detroit style pizza next time!

Hi there! I only have active dry yeast - do you think I could sub 1-1? Most of my recipes only call for 2tsp active dry yeast. Wasn’t sure if you’ve done it successfully 🙂 it’s been so hard to find a good gf pizza recipe and I’m eager to try this!
ThrivingGlutenFree
Hi Caitlin! I have not used active dry yeast, but you can use it interchangeably, although it will increase your rising time. Go ahead and use 1 packet of the yeast(it is very close to 1 tbsp) and please let me know how it goes or if you have any other questions!

We've been making your pizza dough recipe for quite a while. Best dough we've found. My kids ask for it every time we have pizza and I'd say that speaks volumes! Amazing recipe!
