Step-by-Step Instructions for Crockpot Sausage and Peppers

1. Brown the Sausage (Optional)

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown sausages for 2-3 minutes per side for extra flavor. (You can skip this step if pressed for time.)

2. Layer the Ingredients

Place sliced peppers and onions in the bottom of your slow cooker. Top with sausages, garlic, marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs Italian Sausage cut in chunks or leave in links! We love using a mix of sweet & hot sausage.
  • 1 medium onion sliced in half moons
  • 3 bell peppers thinly sliced (whatever colors you want to use!)
  • 1 jar 28oz of your favorite marinara sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • salt/pepper to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional for some extra spice!

Method

  2. Place sliced peppers and onions in the bottom of your slow cooker. Top with sausages, garlic, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.
  4. Remove lid and let stand for at least 15 minutes while the sauce thickens.
